Steelers Training Camp Guide,
St. Vincent's College, Latrobe, PA

Sports Illustrated has called Steelers Training Camp at St. Vincent's
College in Latrobe, PA the most picturesque camp in the NFL.
The Steelers begin their 74th season
and defense of their Super Bowl title on Sunday, July 31st with the
opening of training camp at St.Vincent's College in Latrobe,
PA. The Steelers training camp has been held at St. Vincent's
since 1967.
The
Steelers have published a printable training camp guide with
tentative daily schedules, full training camp rosters and maps of the
St. Vincent College Campus.
The St. Vincent Campus will be open
to fans approximately 90 minutes
prior to the start of practice.
Open
Practices:
Generally,
only Pittsburgh Steelers afternoon practice sessions are
open to the public. The first open practice session is on Sunday, July
30 at 1PM. Generally, the afternoon practice session will
occur at 3PM on all other days except for:

The
final day of Steeler training camp in Latrobe is Wednesday
8/23. Steeler practices at the UPMC Training Facility in
Pittsburgh are not open to the public.
Prohibited
Items:
Fans
will not be allowed to bring alcohol or video cameras. Still
photography is permitted.
Steelers
Experience:
The
Steelers offer their fans the chance to participate in the Steelers
Experience each day beginning 1 hour before practice until 3 hours
after the start of practice.
The Steelers Experience is the Steelers traveling interactice theme
park. Fans can participate in the Touchdown Run, KidsZone, Bungee Run,
Look LIke A Steeler, Obstacle Course and see Steeler memorabilia in the
traveling Coca-Cola Great Hall.
Night
Practice at Latrobe Municipal Stadium:
On
Wdenesday August 2nd, The practice at Latrobe Stadium will begin at
approximately 7:05 p.m. and will be preceded by a 15-minute autograph
session, beginning at 6:45 p.m.
Admission for the practice at Latrobe Stadium is $3 for adults 18-65
and $1 for children under 18 and senior citizens. Children under 12
will be admitted for free if accompanied by a parent. Tickets will be
sold at the gate. Proceeds benefit the Greater Latrobe School District
Athletic Program.
Gatorade
Junior Training Camp:
On
August 2 at Latrobe Memorial Stadium, 3-5 PM. The Steelers will host
a free football clinic for the first 250 fans aged 7-14. All
participants will receive a free Gatorade Squirt Bottle, a Steelers
Decal and Super Bowl XL Photograph.
Latrobe,
located 40 miles southeast of Pittsburgh in Westmoreland County,
Pennsylvania
is the home of Arnold Palmer, the former home of Rolling Rock Beer, and
since 1967, the site of Pittsburgh Steelers training camp.
The childhood home of Fred Rogers, Latrobe also claims to be the site
of the first professional football game ever played and the home of the
1st banana split.

There:
Driving Directions:
Follow I-76, The Pennsylvania
Turnpike to Exit 67 - Irwin (Old exit 7)
and follow signs for Route 30 East. Continue on Route 30 for
approximately 18 miles.
As you come down a long
hill just before getting to Latrobe, you will
see a sign on the right (at a stop light) for St. Vincent College .
Turn left at the sign and the road will lead to the Saint Vincent
campus.
If you get to the
traffic light with Arnold Palmer Airport on your
immediate right, you have gone too far. Make a "U" turn at the light
and follow the road to the first light and the entrance to Saint
Vincent will be on your right.
Parking is free on the St. Vincent's campus.

is served Northwest Airlines via
their Detroit hub.
Pittsburgh International Airport is 60 miles from Latrobe and served by
major US Airlines.

Steelers Train To Training Camp
DiSalvo's Restaurant in Latrobe offers the "Steelers
Train To Training
Camp." Ride the 7:20 AM Amtrak Train directly to DiSalvo's
Restaurant
in Latrobe. Arrive by 10 AM to linger over a breakfast buffet. A
shuttler bus takes you over to Steeler Training Camp with a box lunch
and returns you to the train station in time to catch the 5:40 back to
Pittsburgh. The breakfast buffet, box lunch and training camp shuttle
are $30. Amtrak fares to Latrobe from Pittsburgh $16 round
trip, $8 for children under 14.
